Black Eyed...Deborah!!

Yeah, so we went to Galveston back in September. Colt, Susanna, her friend Liz and me. We stayed in a great resort on the beach, and had so much fun playing house. So, the last day we were there, I had Colt on one of those swimming pool floats (you know, the ones you lay out on and drink a margarita...I mean lemonade...!!). Anyway, I was guiding the float with him on it over the waves. Right as I lifted the edge up to go over the wave, the wave broke and shoved the float back, causing Colt's head to smack me in the face. Immediately, I felt my cheek swell up. I was trying not to panic, and just get him and me out of the water. I turned back to yell to Susanna, to let her know I was hurt, and that I probably would have a black eye. She yelled back "yeah, I can already see it from here"!!

So, long story short, my cheek might've been broken (although we will never know because I didn't go to the doc), and it did swell up as if there was a golf ball underneath it. Once the swelling started to go down, the colors started changing, not just on my cheek, but on my eye. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure!!!

This is right after it happened. Susanna took a pic to show me how bad it really was. (as if I didn't know already!!)

Up close...and just plain ugly!!

After icing it off and on for an hour and a half.

The swelling is starting to move up to my eye.

The discoloration has begun!

The flowers Colt picked for me.

While I was out of the room, Susanna thought it would be funny to pretend the hotdog bun was an owie, and take pictures of herself. Check out her many poses.

Yeah, I came back and saw her. I laughed so hard...then I cried. So sad!

This was day three, I think.

My office thought it would be fun to have a different theme every day in my honor. You can guess some of the themes: pirate day, pound puppy day, football day (they came into the office with post-it notes stuck under their eyes where football players put that black stuff.) It really was a fun week.

I don't look too amused in this pic!

It took a while for it to finally get back to normal. There was discoloration for over 2 weeks, and my cheek was still a bit swollen even after 3 weeks. Now, it's been almost 2 months, and every once in a while my cheek will hurt. I can still feel a bit of a knot there, but for the most part...all is well!!

Here are a few other shots of our weekend...the good times!

We really did have a fun time...despite the whole black eye thing! Can't wait to go again!

Colt's First Day of His Last Year of Pre-K

Soooo....Colt started at his new school...a real school, not daycare...this past August. He is going to the same school that my sisters and I went to in elementary school. How cool is that! It's crazy...seeing him in the same uniforms that we wore (well, a bit updated, but you get it!!) and playing on the same playgrounds, with some of the same teachers. I'm so proud of him...cannot believe how old he is getting. This is his last year of Pre School...he starts Kindergarten next year.

So, here is the play by play...sorry it's almost 2 months late, but I've been busy...and lazy...and busy some more! Anyway, enjoy!! :)

"Good Morning, Good Morning, it's time to rise and shine...
...Good Morning, Good Morning, I hope you're feeling fine!!"

Colt's New Do...

I had let Colt's hair get pretty long ( I say long, it wasn't that long...but for him it was long on top!!). Anyway, we went to visit Aunt Beka to have her possibly give him a mohawk!!! It was long enough on top, but not quite long enough in the back to make it a continuous mohawk...so I told her to just buzz it!!!! She was really nervous...asked me several times if I was sure...and I said go for it! In the middle of it, I almost teared up...but I stayed strong! :) I think it turned out pretty good. He looks a lot older...I think! He also looks a lot more like his Dad...which a few people have not been too excited about that! hah! Oh well...it's pretty much inevitable that he will look like him...but he's still got a bit of me!
The first two pics he looks like me...cause he's smiling real big! The last one he looks more like Caleb. Anyway, enjoy!

Random pics of Love - throughout the years

I started this post right before Mother's Day (that's why the date says May 4th...I don't know how to change it). It's a few shots from Mother's Day two years ago, and then a couple of other random shots. I planned to post it, but then Colt was sick the whole weekend of Mother's Day, so I was a bit sidetracked. I guess I'll post it now.

He was so sweet this year. Even though he didn't feel good, he loved getting ready for Mother's Day. He and my mom went to Bath and Body Works and got me some smell-good things...and then they headed over to Halmark for him to pick me out a card. He picked out the best card possible. It had flowers on the front, and when you opened it, it was a pop-up of a mama bear and a baby bear. He signed his name...and even better, wrote Mom on the envelope! He hadn't ever written my name before, so that was really special! He was very good about keeping the secret of what he got me...although he was too excited about the card, and he told me it was a pop-up! So sweet. We ended up going to dinner Mother's Day, instead of lunch, with my parents, sisters, and grandparents, to celebrate Mother's Day. Colton had told my mom the day before that he wanted to pay for my food. So, after we ate, Mom slipped him a $20, and he handed it to the waiter and told him it was for my food. How cute is that!!! He's really been sweet lately...such a good boy! I'm so blessed! Enjoy the pics!

This was a year or so ago...he picked a flower out of Papa's garden and gave it to me.

I have no clue when this was. He was 3, I know that much, because of his shirt. The hat he's putting on his head was actually a light. I don't know where this was...either Tortugas, or Chuys. So sweet. Such a baby face!

This was Mother's Day 2006, I think...cause he looks too young for it to have been last year. Nope, it wasn't last year, because my hair was dark last year! ha ah He is so little!

Him showing me the card.

Look at those sleepy eyes. It was pretty early. We are sitting at the top of the stairs. It was precious!

I have such a sweet boy. I just got his school pictures in, so I will get those on here. I'm not promising when, just that it will eventually happen!!! Hope everyone is doing well. We are great here! Just staying busy!

Funnies and Updates!

Here's a few of the latest!!!
**********************************************************
Colton was in just his underwear and he pointed to his nipples and said: "Mommy, what are these red things on me?"

I said "Well, those are your boy nipples" (I don't know why I didn't just say nipples, it just popped out).

He said "Boy Nickels, what do I need boy nickels for?"

I laughed and said "I don't know, Colt, God just made them". (I'm sure we all want to know why boys have nipples...but even funnier, he called them "nickels". Too cute)

**********************************************************

Colt and I were at our friends Chris and Christi's house a couple weeks ago. Colt was playing on the computer and Chris was helping him make a picture on Power Point. Colt decided he wanted to put Mimi's name on it, so he told Chris "It's Cathy...it starts with a C." So, they wrote "Cathy" on the picture. Then he decided he wanted to put Papa's name on it. Chris asked him what his name was, and Colt said "Trees By Frank, how can I help You"!!

For those of you that don't know, my Dad owns his company called "Trees by Frank". He always answers his phone "Trees by Frank, how can I help you."

Evidently, Colt put them all together as his name. We all laughed and laughed...for weeks now!!!

My dad's birthday is on Sunday, and we've decided to put "Happy Birthday Trees by Frank, how can I help you" on his cake!!! I'm sure he will laugh!!!

**********************************************************

That's it for funnies for now!!

Things are going well for us. Just busy busy! I started a new job the end of January, and have just finished my 3rd month. I absolutely love it!!!!

Colt was moved to the 4 year old class, and is really enjoying it! I just enrolled him in the private school that my sisters and I went to for elementary school. It's the school that my parents started with our old church. I am very excited about Colton going in the Fall. We have one more year of pre-school, and then start Kindergarten in Fall 2009. I can't believe it!!! He will be 5 in October, so he just missed the cutoff. Oh well, gives him another year to just be a kid and grow and learn!!!

He's been very sweet lately...and had LOTS and LOTS of questions. Questions about anything and everything! It can be very tiring...and often it's hard to figure out how to answer them!!

Like this morning when he was going to the bathroom, he asked me what I used to go to the bathroom. I said I use the toilet. He said "no, what do you use? like my piener, what do you use?" I just said I use what God gave me and left it at that.

I'm sorry, but I'm not ready to tell him about the parts of a girl!! It's hard enough telling him boy parts...but girl parts are a whole different story!! ;)

Oh well, that's it for now. We are having a Garage Sale tomorrow morning. Wish us luck!!!
